2008 - This is Andras' World Ranking for Men's Water Polo. These were the factors in producing this list: 1) Recent results at major FINA and LEN events, 2) Quality of domestic leagues, 3) Youth development programs and results and 4) the countries' history of the sport. It becomes very difficult to rank the countries past the 12th-14th place because the teams rarely play against each other and it becomes impossible to accurately rank them after 20-25 so the list contains, in alphabetical order, most countries that have some form of organized water polo.
2009 - There are some significant movements in the 2009 World Rankings. Serbia, due to it's strong performance all year (Mediterranean Games, World League, World Championships) moves into 1st place, dropping Hungary to 2nd. The big losers were Italy that dropped 3 places to 10th place and Greece from 8th to 11th. Montenegro dropped to 6th but it won't take them long to climb back into the top 4. Canada moves up 1 place to 12th in the world due to the teams best ever performance at the 2009 World Championships.
Keep in mind that the criteria is based on more then just the last international event. (See above)
